What is Wrong With The Seat?
The cause for the recall has to do with the integrity of the handle on the seat. The handle is used to carry the seat in and out of the car or stroller. Under certain conditions the handle may break causing you to drop the stroller. Reports of over 70 instances of this happening have been cited. The only danger is with carrying the seat, its features and functionality as a protective car seat have not been affected. The B-Safe is still alright to use in this manner so you do not have to stop having your child ride in the back seat. You just have to make sure you carry it differently until you are able to get it fixed.
What Should I Do If My Seat Is On The Recall List?
You do not have to return your infant seat to the outlet that you bought it from. You can continue using it as normal except to take extra precaution when lifting it. If your seat is registered then Britax may be contacting you soon. If it is not registered you can go to the Britax website to do so and get instructions on how to obtain a remedy kit. They will send you means to reinforce the handle to ensure that it does not crack and break.
Tough Few Months For Britax
Britax is a very reputable brand and a quality manufacturer of some of the top rated child car seats around, but the last few months there have been some hurdles. Back in August 2015, they had to recall some of their ClickTight convertible car seat models due sticking issues with one of their latches. They were, however, very quick to remedy the situation for owners and come out with a fix. We still trust the company because in light of recent issues, they have been very straightforward and helpful to get parents information.
Exhale and Relax
Parents want the best convertible car seat for their children, and this often can cause a fair amount of stress for a few. If you have one of the models on the list above it is important to know that your car seat will still work as intended. Your child is not in any danger riding in these seats in the back of your vehicle. You just have to pay particular care to how you carry your child in the seat. Instead of picking it up by the handle, Britax suggests that you use two hands and pick it up at the base or sides. This is a temporary workaround until you are able to get a more permanent fix to the handle.
You can release some the natural anxiety that may have been built up at first news of a recall of the piece of equipment that you entrust to keep your child safe and secure. It is not as bad as you may have feared and you can rest assured.
